shefcoop@gmail.com
with your suggestions.
Sundays
Tai Kwondo

Our Judo club has it's first Exhibition Competition
Our fantastic judo club, run by the National Judo Association and supported by Arsenal had it's first internal competition on Tuesday
April 5th. The competition was an opportunity for the children to show off their skills in competitive bouts. Parents watched as their children battled
it out on the mats and demonstrated the considerable techniques and discipline that they have already learned.
Club Coach, Gabor Szanyi Nagy, has only been running the club since January after taster sessions last summer, but already it has a
lovely atmosphere with a dedicated group of children attending the sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. All of the children received medals and
certificates of achievement. It was a lovely event. What was clear was the fun the children have and the friendships and respect forming within
the club. Gabor said he is really impressed with the dedication of the kids and, with his fantastic coaching, this club is going to grow from strength
to strength.
The club was established after lots of work by the TRA as part of it's
commitment to get more things happening on the estate for residents (see
classes for more info). The idea came from Nic Countouris of the TRA who has been particularly
important and did alot of work to get it all going. It is called Capital
London Judo Club and was formed from Arsenal in the Communities 'Premier
League 4 Sport' programme.
Judo is a Japanese martial art and the training sessions are fun and introduce
basic strength, agility and flexibility as well as Judo techniques. The
club has lots of girls and boys and still has some spaces. If you'd like
to find out more there's information on the time and cost on the classes
page of this website. Come along before one of the sessions to speak to Gabs. Please note that there are no Judo classes over the Easter
holiday.
Kickz Football
Arsenal run very popular football sessions on the football pitch on the Estate. These take place on the football pitch at the Abbey Road end of the estate
every Tuesday and Friday. No need to book, just turn up - and they are FREE!
From 4.30pm to 6pm for under 14s
From 6pm to 7.30pm for over 14s
New Music Studio for kids on the estate - based in the ARC
For any kids interested in any aspect of music production, our very own Youth Club, the ARC, now has a full studio and a teacher.
They started running music courses. For further information please contact Suzzette Williamson on 020 7974 8201 or 020 7624 8935.
Film Project
Young people worked with older residents and an arts organisation to make a film
about the estate. They learnt film making skills and interviewed
fellow residents as well as the architect who designed the estate. This
film was shown at the Tricycle Cinema on in May last year and has also been shown in several exhibitions and a film festival. Find out more here..
