Alexandra and Ainsworth Tenants and Residents Association

TRA

Welcome! There has always been a very strong TRA since the demise of the Co-operative and the people who choose to get involved are very committed to making sure Camden keep us informed on all levels about any plans, changes etc they may have for this estate. Having said that they don't always and this has prompted the TRA to get involved with issues that they don't feel are a good step forward for the estate.

The TRA is also committed to making the estate a fantastic place to live...
and has been working hard to get a timetable of fun things going on in the Tenants Hall, as well as organising activities such as the fireworks night party, the exhibition on the history of the estate and, hopefully, an annual summer party. A group of residents have teamed up with Camden to make a million pound application to the Heritage Lottery Fund to re-vamp the gorgeous park area and playgrounds on the estate (we have passed the first stage of the process so fingers crossed).

We are really open to new members and want as many people involved as possible to give their ideas and time to set up and organise things here. Some members just manage attend the monthly meetings, others get more involved - it all depends on what time you can spare.

The Heating issue we have been battling with Camden on for the past 3 years and have made serious in-roads again into stopping Camden impose something on this estate which might not necessarily be the right solution and they are now talking to us properly about the best way forward for our heating issues.

if you think you may be interested in any of these issues or any other issues then please come along and join us or email us with any questions or suggestions. You are also welcome to join us at our TRA monthly meetings which take place on the second Wednesday of every month in the Tenants Hall from 7.30pm

How often do we meet?

We meet every second Wednesday of the month in the Tenants Hall and try to have a break in August. We meet in the Tenants Hall at 7.30 and meetings usually run for a couple of hours. Please come join us and find out more. Just turn up.

For Parents
The more people who get involved with the TRA the better. For this reason the TRA will pay for babysitting for those parents/guardians who are on the TRA and need it in order to attend meetings.

Do I have to be a TRA member to be involved?

No. Currently we have various working groups including -
The Heating Working Group which has been working with the Council to ensure that any new heating system for the estate is what residents want;
The Open Space (Park) Working Group which has been putting together a bid for £1.4 million to Heritage Lottery to re-vampour park;
The Tenants Hall Working Group which has been working hard to get activities running in our Tenants Hall;
The Filming Working Group which looks over applications to film on the estate to make sure that programmes made here are positive.

These are groups of about 4 people, some TRA members and some residents that are just interested in that subject. So you can be involved as much as you want to be. For more info us at info@alexandraandainsworth.org.
